There were three salespeople near the front of the store when I walked in. They welcomed me. I did my research and I knew (basically) what I wanted. They gave me space to look around but were available when I had questions. When it was time to begin the ordering process, the sales guy was patient with me as I wavered on some of my decisions. Yes, he did "up-sell" to me, but he did it in a respectful way...I don't find this in the least bit off putting. I'm happy with my decisions and the experience (so much so that I went back a week later and placed an order for an additional piece), and I look forward to my delivery.

My rating is for the shopping experience, since I have not received my furniture delivery yet. I found this place to be very well stocked with lots of different styles in lots of different price ranges. I chose to shop here because although hardwood furniture is often more expensive than the "engineered wood" found at stores like West Elm, it also lasts much longer. Howard Hill seemed like a good compromise: you pay less, because you finish the wood yourself (although they offer finishing services as well), but you still get high quality solid wood furniture.
I searched for a long time to find a piece to go along with my grandmothers dinning room set that was passed down to me. I wanted a corner cabinet stained the same color. Here I found exaclty what I had in mind and it came in multiple sizes so it fits perfectly in my corner! They have a custom finising department so I brought in a leaf from my table and they matched the color. I now have a dining room set that I love and is completely functional!
Poor quality. Purchased a kitchen table, within one year the finish faded.

This company seems like it genuinely cares about their product and their customers, and although they don't offer the kind of canned showroom experience of the large chains, they make up for it with a quality product.
